Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na

Ok..So back to blogging after a long hiatus..In between i changed jobs, went for a few trips with friends and family, missed a few friends who flew over to US and UK,saw my brother get engaged and watched a few, very few good movies...

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na...The trailer failed to impress me when i saw it first in Satyam..Genelia was never a delight to watch, the guy looked too cutesy and the overall feel was that of a B-movie..But,all this before i came to know that Aamir Khan had put in the bucks for this one..So,i waited, watched every interview on MTV,Zoom etc etc, read everything in all magazines and the net and the wait was worth it...When i watched the movie,I simply loved it..Not that it did not have any flaws altogether..But,it was a very very honest movie...
The only thing i found irritating was the nicknaming..meow,rats,boms...whats next?? "ouch"??!!..total let down...I dont think any group of twenty-somethings would ever have such nicknames...not sure,though..I was never a big fan of such nicknames...

The story is very very ordinary..Boy and Girl are friends..But,they do not know if they are in love..(yaaawwnn)..their friends and family want them to be hitched..but they don't want to and finally they do...The treatment of the story is also average..but,what really makes this movie lovable are the small small lovely moments strewn all over it..There is nothing pretentious about them..They are so natural and life like...especially the bonding between the friends, the on-off relationship of aditi and her bro(portrayed brilliantly by Prateik Babbar),Jai's dad in the picture,Jai's mom and her fear for her son....

Imran Khan is a discovery...He did a better job than his uncle in his first movie...His acting is so effortless and it shows that he just loved doing every single scene in the movie..I liked Genelia too ( for a change)..She compliments Imran well...The other characters are all likeable and stays with you even after you leave the movie hall...

A R Rahman scores again with the music...The songs are peppy and young!!..I can hear "Pappu can't dance" hummed all across my office....

All in all..a must watch...watch with your friends,family..alone...never gives you a dry moment..Hats off to the JTYJN team...
